Senior Application Specialist (Linux, SQL)

We are looking for a new colleague for our Solution Support team. You will be responsible for providing support, consultations, guidance and problem solving expertise in the team supporting the main business partner - DHL Supply Chain. You will cooperate with various DHL IT Services internal teams (database, network, operating system administrators and developers etc. ) to maintain the service on agreed level including implementations with minimal disruptions to the production environment.


• Works as 2nd level support for internal set of applications/services supporting the whole application/service lifecycle from initial testing to production support
• Delivers application support within SLA according to ITS processes with the main focus on incident, problem and change management
• Monitors supported service to be ahead of potential issues
• Investigates problems and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions
• Owns assigned tasks to final restoration and collaborates with other support teams within the organization and external suppliers
• Liaises with developers to overcome known problems and improve the service quality
• Supports on-going projects and carries out specific assignments connected with the supported service and business continuity including consultation for these projects
• Monitors and oversees the overall performance of the service
• Housekeeping on managed services
• Keep all required technical documentation up-to date
• Capacity management – assure sufficient capacity on services
• Participation on meetings from IT and customer side
• On-call (usual rotation one week in a month)


• Previous experience in area of IT support
• Advanced experience in Linux/Unix
• Basic knowledge of Bash & Powershell scripting
• Familiar with MS SQL and Oracle DB, active SQL usage
• Team player attitude
• Analytical skills and ability to get quickly from incident/problem to solution
• Customer focus approach
• Intermediate English
• Knowledge of application servers (Tomcat, Apache, Weblogic) is an advantage
• We welcome MDM (Mobile Device Management) experience
